The Main Library is located on the second floor of the Beckman Center, home to the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research, next door to San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. Our library houses the majority of the Zoo's 12,000+ books, and 400+ print journal titles, as well as the Archives and Rare Book Room. Many more journal subscriptions and information resources are available online through our website, library.sandiegozoo.org. Several small, specialized print collections are also located at various sites throughout SDZG's multi-campus organization.
We assist San Diego Zoo Global team members with research projects, reference questions, and how to use our website and access our collections and subscriptions. Team members may request books and articles through the Library's website and online catalog, check out and renew books by email or phone, and receive/return books by interoffice mail.
SDZG staff and volunteers are welcome to browse the collections and use our facilities during open hours. We offer a reading/study area, four SDZG-networked computers, and a color printer/photocopier/scanner.
Library access and services are normally restricted to SDZG team members. We occasionally make an exception for academic scholars upon request, with a university affiliation, academic email address, and a brief description of their research.
Welcome! Our Information for New Employees packet gives an overview of Library resources and services.
The San Diego Zoo Global Library Copyright Notice provides copyright and fair use guidelines and links to informative resources.
